Prince William has allegedly been asked to become prince regent amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This week, Express came up with a poll asking their readers if they think Prince William should step up while Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles are self-isolating.

Since the Queen and Prince Charles are over 70 years old, they are more susceptible to COVID-19 compared to Prince William.

The results of the poll revealed that 76 percent of the respondents want Prince William to become a prince regent. Only 23 percent of respondents said that it’s inappropriate for the duke to bypass Prince Charles, who is next in line to the throne.

Some respondents also shared their comments regarding Prince William’s possible future role. One of them said that she would love to have a King William. Another royal fan said that Middleton is down to earth and compassionate and Prince William's head is more screwed on than the other royals.

According to New Idea, Prince William stepping into the role of prince regent is not impossible. After all, a similar thing happened in 1811 when King George IV acted as regent for George III.

Meanwhile, royal author Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that Prince Charles and Prince William will step up as the Queen scales down her duties.

Even though the palace doesn’t normally talk about the Queen’s future plans, it has become more evident that Prince Charles and Prince William are taking over some of her duties.

Nicholl also acknowledged the fact that Prince William and Kate Middleton have been letting their guard down amid the coronavirus pandemic. She also said that Britons tend to turn to the royals for support, comfort, and hope. And that's exactly what they have been doing even though they haven't been making public appearances.

As of late, it is still unclear when the members of the royal family will be seen in public again. The Queen continues to self-isolate at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip. Prince Charles is self-isolating with Camilla Parker Bowles at Clarence House. And the Cambridges are at Anmer Hall with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
