Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is likely to miss her favorite royal duty this year due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

Queen Elizabeth would be missing Royal Ascot this time around due to the ongoing lockdown in England. This sporting event was slated to take place in June but has now been canceled by its organizers. The event had to be shelved amid the uncertainty surrounding the outbreak of the deadly virus.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal commentator shared why the monarch loves to attend Royal Ascot every year. He explained: "Remember the Queen is one of the world's great equestrian enthusiasts.”

As such, she makes sure to attend this sporting event regularly. The commentator further mentioned that the monarch will “miss it tremendously” because she is passionate about horse riding.

While the Queen is an expert equestrian, Fitzwilliams is unsure “whether she has been riding recently” or not. The royal commentator feels that the monarch would have also missed meeting her family members on her birthday this year. Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth are self-isolating in Windsor Castle at present.

Fitzwilliams mentioned that although the monarch can communicate with her family by virtual means, she would have missed seeing her loved ones. The royal commentator said that the Queen is in touch with the British Prime Minister over the telephone.

Although Boris Johnson had tested positive with COVID-19 and has been ill, they have been communicating on the phone. He added that everything has changed in the current global health crisis. Last year, the monarch was involved in about 300 engagements.

The royal commentator feels “That’s extraordinary” because the Queen was 93-year-old then. He told Daily Express that Royal Ascot is important for her as “she is a racing enthusiast like few others.” At the same time, the Queen would be also missing attending all royal engagements in general.

Meanwhile, according to another report by Daily Express, Her Majesty seems to be picking up a new skill that the other members of the Royal Family are also “enjoying.” In an interview given to the BBC, Kate Middleton and Prince William indicated that they are trying to teach a new skill to the older Royal Family members.

Although the royal couple did not take any name, there is a possibility of them referring to Queen Elizabeth according to Chris Sip, Royal Editor of ITV News. Ship told his listeners that he wonders “whether it’s the Queen learning rapidly how to use Zoom” or not. However, he added that the couple did not say who they were referring to.
