Prince Charles is allegedly reeling over Queen Elizabeth’s plan to bypass him from the throne.

Earlier this year, National Enquirer claimed Prince Charles and Prince William’s bitter war for the throne is not yet over.

A source told the tabloid that Prince Charles is fighting tooth and nail to make sure that the Queen’s plan to bypass him won’t push through.

“The Harry and Meghan ‘we quit’ debacle just fired up his determination to make sure HE succeeds the queen and no one else! William has no intention of stepping aside – and the father-son power-grab has thrown the palace into chaos and crisis like the monarchy has never seen!” a source told the tabloid.

According to the unnamed source, the Queen, who is dying, has already met up with Prince Charles and Prince William. During their meeting, the father and son argued over who should succeed the monarch.

However, the rumor debunking site Gossip Cop came up with a sensible argument regarding the dubious story. The publication said that the Queen, Prince Charles, and Prince William have no say when it comes to the order of succession.

After all, it is not legally possible for the Duke of Cambridge to take over the throne after the Queen’s death because he isn’t his grandmother’s direct successor. Since Prince Charles is the Queen’s eldest child, he will automatically replace her when she passes away.

As such, it is unlikely for Prince Charles and Prince William to be fighting for the throne. And when Kate Middleton’s husband was much younger, he didn’t also want to become king.

British journalist Jeremy Paxman previously shared one of the conversations he had with Princess Diana where the late royal told him that Prince William doesn’t want to become king.

Every time Prince William would say that he doesn’t want to take over the throne, Prince Harry would respond by saying that he would gladly accept the role.

Meanwhile, even though Prince William can’t take over the throne immediately after the Queen passes away, he could be given an important role during the coronavirus pandemic.

Since Prince Charles is in his 70s and he just got diagnosed with COVID-19, his eldest son could be tapped as his placeholder.

The members of the royal family are self-isolating in their respective homes but Prince William and Middleton continue to hold video interviews as part of their royal duties.
