Camilla Parker Bowles’s important role at Princess Diana’s memorial service in 2007 made the late royal’s loved ones feel uncomfortable.

Sources told Daily Mail that the Duchess of Cornwall had a prominent role in the service for the Princess of Wales organized by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Since Camilla was already married to Prince Charles at that time, there was an expectation that she would speak at the service. But Princess Diana’s loved ones still couldn’t forget that Camilla had an affair with Prince Charles as he was married to the late royal.

In the end, Camilla refused to risk making other people uncomfortable that’s why she refused to attend the memorial altogether. Just days before, the Duchess of Cornwall confirmed that her plans had changed.

Princess Diana and Camilla initially had a wonderful relationship with each other. The Princess of Wales was aware that Camilla was close friends with Prince Charles.

In fact, royal author Tina Brown revealed that Camilla was the one that encouraged Prince Charles to get into a relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom.

Brown wrote in the book “The Diana Chronicles” that Camilla thought Princess Diana was someone that lacked intelligence and vitality. Prince Charles accepted the challenge because the royal family was already pressuring him to settle down.

“His family wanted it. The public wanted it. Like the last Prince of Wales, he liked to confide in married women, and his two favorites, Lady Tyron and Camilla Parker Bowles wanted it. They had met the blushing little Spencer girl and deduced she was not going to give them any trouble. Prince Charles was exhausted. He proposed,” Brown wrote.

However, it didn’t take Princess Diana very long to realize that there was something else going on between Prince Charles and Camilla. During an interview with royal author Andrew Morton, Princess Diana shared how she found out about the affair.

One day, the late royal walked into Prince Charles’ office only to find a woman’s bracelet there. Princess Diana asked Prince Charles who it was for and he said that it’s a gift for Camilla.

The bracelet had the initials G and F, which stood for Gladys and Fred, which were the nicknames that they gave to each other.

Years later, Princess Diana also started having affairs with other men while she was still married to Prince Charles. After their divorce, she dated Dodi Al-Fayed.
