Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae Young are excited about planning their wedding, which they want to ensure is an intimate affair. During a recently concluded interview, the couple opened up about their engagement, plans to tie the wedding knot, and why they do not want to invite their exes to the ceremony.

Speaking to ET's Lauren Zima, the couple said they plan to get married sometime summer next year, with Heather adding that they have dates on hold. They are currently in between California and Cabo and aren't sure where they want their wedding ceremony to take place, but say it will be in one of those places.

Heather is quite ahead as far as planning the wedding is concerned. She has already selected her wedding dress, chosen her sister as her maid of honor, and even picked her wedding colors. The couple also wants to ensure that Tarek's two kids, 10-year-old Taylor and 5-year-old Brayden to join them in their celebration.

However, the couple will not be inviting Tarek's ex-wife to join them on their special day. Aside from that, Christina Anstead, the mother of Tarek's two kids, isn't invited either. Tarek got married to Christina in 2009 before splitting from her in 2018.

Insisting on not inviting exes on their big day, Tarek said they are planning to have a small event with no cameras. He says that having a smaller ceremony is better because it gives them an opportunity to have conversations with people around them without any sort of distraction, and it is more intimate as well.

Furthermore, he went to explain that the intimate ceremony will be graced only by their best friends and family members. Tarek said they would be strict with their list.

Shortly after revealing details about their engagement on Sept. 18 with ET, Christina announced her split from husband Ant Anstead. When asked if they talked to Christina about getting married, the couple said they did not.

Referencing his conversation with Tarek's ex, Heather said she thought she was aware of how important her role was since she was helping raise the kids, but that wasn't the case. Noting that they respect her as the kids' mother, Heather said they do not need to discuss anything with her. Tarek chimed in, saying she is his ex-wife.

The Selling Sunset actress also opened up about how his family welcomed her into their lives, noting that the whole family, especially the kids, were welcoming. Fans will be able to see the couple get engaged on the season finale of Flipping 101, which airs on Thursday on HGTV.
