Valerie Bertinelli paid a heartfelt tribute to her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen. The 60-year-old actress recalled fond memories of her ex-husband with whom she spent 26 years of her life. The founder of Van Halen and guitarist was found dead on Oct. 6 after fighting a long battle with cancer.

The guitarist's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, took Instagram to break the tragic news about his father and said that it is unbelievable that he has to write a note about his death. The 29-year-old musician is the only child Van Halen and Bertinelli shared together.

The musician addressed his late father Van Halen as "best father" that one could ever get and recalled the memories he spent with him on and off stage. He said that it will be difficult for him to get recover from such a great loss ever.

While Bertinelli reposted her own son's message on social media but didn't post anything herself for more than 24 hours, however, she took Twitter after a day and remember how her life changed forever 40 years ago when she first met Van Halen.

She thanked the late musician for giving her "true light," which is the son they share together. The One Day at a Time star revealed how Van Halen went through treatments for his lung cancer that was extremely challenging.

However, she praised Van Halen, who died at the age of 65, for keeping high spirits throughout. She revealed that spending the last moments with him makes her feel grateful and wrote that they would meet in their next life.

Bertinelli and Van Halen tied the knot in 1981 while the couple had a son after almost a decade in 1991. However, the two took another decade to get separated back in 2001 and their divorce was finalized officially in 2007.

Moreover, the duo always stood tall with each other even after their divorce. There were allegations on Van Halen for being in the rehab because of which his tour dates were pushed further in 2008. Bertinelli immediately came out in his defense and denied all the reports of him being in any rehab and revealed that he has been proactive regarding his illness.

In fact, she went on to explain that the musician is keen on getting back on the tour as she revealed talking to Van Halen on a daily basis even after their divorce. The first treatment musician received was related to tongue cancer and was announced cancer-free after two years.
