Ellen DeGeneres is the host of one of the most popular daytime shows right now, but just last week she was embroiled in a rumor that involved people who worked with her in her show.

It was the lack of communication that made many crew members furious, according to Variety. Apparently, they have not updated over what their work hours will be, or even about their pay. The producers of the show did not even try to inquire about their health, both physically and mentally. And when they finally got some information, they were told that they would be receiving a 60% pay cut in their salaries.

But all this is happening even while Ellen continues to host her show. The last taping for the show was done the week of March 9, after which the production had to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. After this, the producers of the show apparently hired a new crew (which is composed of four members) to shoot Ellen in areas around her home. The crew, many who have been with the host since her show first aired 17 years ago feel that there is a lack of empathy from the top producers of the show.

They realized just how badly they were being treated when they found out the stories of the crew from other shows like' Jimmy Kimmel Live', 'Desus & Mero', and more. These people were given full rates and their producers were able to have transparent communication with them.

This is not the first controversy that DeGeneres had to battle this year. Earlier, there were rumors that YouTuber NikkieTutorials was not treated well while she was a guest on the show. Apparently, the host was quite cold and distant.

In the midst of all this, DeGeneres continues to shoot for her new show. She also made the time to surprise an individual who did a good deed. Mario Salerno, a landlord from Brooklyn waived the rent for the month of April for his tenants. According to E Online, Salerno's wife is a big fan of the show so the host gave him and his family tickets to 'The Ellen Show' once the quarantine is uplifted and they start shooting the studio again. Aside from that, she also donated $25,000 to the North Brooklyn Angels. With the help of Shutterfly, the charity will give meals to communities in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
