India and the U.S. have been good friends for decades – their leaders have shown each other respect, countries have been striking multiple trade deals, and as a result, the nations make one of the biggest and most valuable trade partnerships in the world.

In recent years, the connection between the two nations has grown stronger thanks to the friendly approach of U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Now, there is something more to it. US and China are the dominant leaders of the world, but the fact that these two nations don’t quite get along very well is the reason why the U.S. has been counting on India which happens to be China’s closest alternative.

India is the world’s sixth-largest economy standing third in Asia after China and Japan. Due to its liberal trade policies, the South Asian nation has turned out to be a great place of fosterage for both national and international businesses. The US, which relies on Asia, to ensure the economical business processes has found India to be a more relevant nation.

According to what US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun has to say, the US and India may want to lead the world together.

On Monday, at the third India-US Leadership Summit organized by US India Strategic and Partnership Forum (USISPF), Biegun made comments about the nature of the India-US relationship. – he expects the partnership between the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy to continue in the future.

Biegun said, "We're very eager to help India become and remain a world-class power in contributing (to) net security rather than worrying about net security and how it affects their interests. And I think defense cooperation is a key avenue for this. Our relationship today spans the globe, covering everything from aircraft carriers and space exploration to energy security and the all-important domain of vaccine research.”

In addition to that, the top diplomat also insisted that in the growing partnership of India and America, “future beckons new milestones” and it has been proven through goodwill and patience that the two nations can defeat any obstacle together.

The partnership between India and the US has come a long way and that is what, to some extent, being made one of the primary agendas of 2020 elections, especially after Kamala Harris’ nomination for the vice presidency.

Considering all that diplomat has to say, it’s possible new deals may be struck in the future.
