A British politician is accusing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex abandoning the royal family at this time.

Given the crisis that the world is going through right now, Brexit Party MEP Martin Daubney feels very strongly about the actions of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Express UK reports that while the politician says that the couple is free to pursue a professional career, they "have cut the umbilical cord from the Royal Family and in our darkest hour." He claims that after the Queen gave a televised emotional speech, he sees the couple as the embodiment of sheer pointlessness.

Calling himself a royalist and a fan of the family, Daubney further says that instead of breaking away from the family, Harry and Meghan could have lent their time and efforts to the country.

Of course, Prince Harry and Meghan made their announcement of stepping down from their duties last January. This was way before the WHO classified the coronavirus as a pandemic and before it has spread all over the world. The couple had already left the UK and settled in Canada before the number of cases started going up.

But instead of coming back to the UK when things started getting worse, Meghan and Harry instead made their way to the United States, settling in LA, where Meghan grew up.

Now that their stint as senior royals is officially over starting April 1, the couple is looking forward to pursuing their financial independence. CNN reports that they are planning to launch their own brand, Archewell. Under Archewell, they are said to put up charitable organizations, wellbeing websites and more.

But they have not given any time frame for this project. In light of the pandemic, Harry and Meghan wish the focus to be on the treatment of COVID-19. They did give a little background on why they chose Archewell though.

Contrary to what others may think, it did not come from their son's name. Arche is the Greek word meaning source of action and Archewell combines the words for strength and action. They are still waiting for the time to launch their new project and will definitely update their fans soon.

Meanwhile, despite many criticizing the couple for their move, it seems that Harry still gets in touch with his family through technology. He is particularly worried about his grandparents, given their age, and communicates with them regularly to ensure that they are coping well with the pandemic.
