Despite many people pitting them against each other, it seems that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex actually have a sweet relationship. But this year, they are forced to cancel a yearly tradition due to the pandemic.

Express UK reports that the two will not be able to attend the Wimbledon tennis tournament this year. Fans of Kate and Meghan will know that the two have been attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament for the past couple of years. They even shared a sweet moment last year when Kate appeared to console Meghan after her friend, Serena Williams, lost in the women's finals.

Contrary to the rumors that there was a rift between the two, their public appearance at the Wimbledon proved that there appeared to be no bad blood between them. They were seen laughing and enjoying their time together, accompanied by Kate's younger sister, Pippa.

If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, the two would probably be attending again. It was set to begin on June 29, but last week, the tournament organizer has already announced that it will be canceled for this year and will instead happen from June 28-July 11, 2021.

Wimbledon is not the only sports event that had to be canceled or postponed due to the pandemic. They decided to just hold the event next year instead of postponing it later this year because there are other tournaments that have already been moved to a later date, such as the French Open.

The biggest sporting event that had to postpone would have to be the 2020 Olympics, which was to be held in Tokyo from July 24 to August 9. But the impact of the coronavirus has dealt a great blow to countries all over the world that the Olympic Committee has decided to postpone the summer Olympics until July 2021.

The pandemic is still creating havoc for the rest of the world. There are now more than 1.3 million positive cases all over. The US still has the most number of cases followed by Spain, Italy, and Germany. The UK presently has more than 51,000 positive cases and more than 5,000 deaths.

Meanwhile, it is unknown if Kate and Meghan are still planning to attend Wimbledon together next year. Meghan has not only officially stepped down from being a senior member of the royal family, but she and Harry, along with their son Archie, have also moved to the United States recently.
