In an attempt to walk back remarks he made suggesting that the Latino community is more diverse as compared to the African American community, Joe Biden tweeted a clarification. The Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee explained that he did not mean to suggest that the African American community is a monolith, adding that he wasn't referring that in terms of its identity or issues.

Biden went on to explain that he witnessed the diversity of sentiments, thoughts, and backgrounds within the African American community throughout his career. He said diversity plays an important role in making workplaces, communities, and America a better place.

The former vice president said his commitment to the Black community is that he will always listen to them, continue fighting for the African American community, and for an unbiased future. He made controversial comments in an interview that aired at the convention of the NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists) and the NAHJ (National Association of Hispanic Journalists), Fox News reported.

During the interview broadcast, Biden compared the Black and Latino communities, pointing out that the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community, with different attitudes about different things, unlike the African American community, aside from a few notable exceptions. Fox News got in touch with NAACP representatives, Black Lives Matter and Congressional Black Caucus for their response to Biden's remarks, but they remained tight-lipped.

A few hours later, Biden repeated those remarks during a virtual conference of the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. He vowed to reflect on the full diversity of the country, as well as the full diversity of the Latino communities.

Explaining what he meant by full diversity, Biden said Latinos are from everywhere, unlike the African American community. He noted that they are from South America, Europe, and America's border in Mexico and, the Caribbean. Despite their different backgrounds and ethnicities, Biden said they are all Latinos, adding that they will get a chance to do that if they win in the upcoming election.

Biden's recent tweets did not include his flustered exchange with CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett over whether or not he has taken a cognitive test. "No, I haven't taken a test," he told Barnett, adding that there is no reason for him to take a test.

He said the question was like asking Barnett, who is black, to take a test to determine whether or not he has taken cocaine. He asked Barnett what he thought about taking that test, asking if he was a junkie.

As expected, both remarks from Biden received strong criticism from Donald Trump and others. The president claims Biden's remarks not only discredited but also insulted the Black community.
