The social media world is in mourning following the tragic death of New York City-based influencer Eva Evans, who died by suicide at the age of 29. Evans, a beloved TikTok star with over 300,000 followers, was found in her apartment on Saturday evening by a close friend who had a key to her residence, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

According to the report, Evans' friend discovered her body hanging from the ceiling of her living room. The friend immediately called 911, but Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. Sources also revealed that Evans left behind a suicide note, and there were no signs of foul play or unusual injuries on her body aside from those sustained during the hanging.

Evans' sister, Lila Joy Evans, took to Instagram on Sunday to confirm the devastating news. "Yesterday my family received news that our sweet, fabulous, creative, caring, hilarious Eva, my beautiful sister, has died," she wrote in a heartfelt post. "After 24 hours, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how unbelievable and hard to process this news will be."

Lila went on to announce that a celebration of Eva's life would be held on Tuesday, April 23, in lower Manhattan. She encouraged fans to share the post "so that it reaches everyone it needs to" and offered to provide details on how to attend the event to those who messaged her directly.

The late influencer's sister also acknowledged the profound impact Eva had on the world and the void her absence will leave. "I wish I had Eva here now to refer to because she would have better words and know how to say what I don't," Lila wrote. "I am keeping this brief, so we can plan for the next few days, but you'll be hearing a lot more from me on how much Eva means to me and just how different the world will be without her."

Evans' fans and fellow influencers flooded social media with tributes and condolences following the news of her passing. TikTok star Tefi Pessoa wrote, "I am so sorry for your loss. I'll light a candle for her tonight. Sending you and everyone who loved her my deepest condolences. I'll tell my grandparents to show her around." Model Lameka Fox also expressed her sympathies, writing, "I am so sorry for your loss Lila. I am sending so much love to you and your family."

Uncut Gems star Julia Fox shared an emotional video on TikTok, tearfully remembering Evans as a "little sister" who always looked up to her. "She was a TikTok star and a New York icon," Fox said. "That's the kind of person she was, always sticking up for me, and she passed away. She was so young. Still had so much to do in life. But she lived life to the fullest."

Evans was known for her hilarious and relatable content about life as a young woman in New York City. Her videos covered a wide range of topics, from tips on things to do in the city to candid advice on navigating breakups. In addition to her successful TikTok presence, Evans created and starred in her own Amazon Prime series, Club Rat, which followed "a self-absorbed influencer [who] attempts to re-enter the chaotic New York City dating scene after a candid video of her humiliating breakup goes viral."
