A royal expert has claimed that Kate Middleton played a significant role in Meghan Markle's decision not to attend King Charles' coronation next month. According to the expert, the Duchess of Cambridge made sure the Duchess of Sussex would remain in California rather than join the historic event.

Tom Bower, a former BBC journalist and investigative reporter, discussed Meghan Markle's absence from the coronation during an interview with GB News. Bower shared his perspective on Kate Middleton's alleged influence on Meghan's choice, stating:

"We must all be grateful that Kate, in the end, I think, prevented Meghan from coming and said she 'wouldn't have her there under any circumstances. And if she [Markle] did come, she'd have to sit at the back."

Bower also addressed Prince Harry's attendance, noting its constitutional importance. As the author of Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, he explained that if anything were to happen to the Prince and Princess of Wales' family, Prince Harry would be next in line for the throne after King Charles.

Various theories have emerged regarding Meghan Markle's decision to skip the coronation. Omid Scobie, co-author of Finding Freedom, suggested that she chose to stay at her Montecito home to celebrate Archie's 4th birthday, which coincides with his grandfather's coronation on May 6.

Others, however, believe Kate Middleton should not be held responsible for Meghan's absence, as Markle may have wanted to avoid the British public. Dan Wootton, speaking on GB News, claimed that Meghan did not want to risk being booed. Recalling the boos she and Prince Harry received during the Queen's Thanksgiving service for her Platinum Jubilee last year, Wootton asserted:

"The reality is, if she had attended the coronation, she would have been booed. The British public was going to boo her, and Meghan knew that, and she didn't want to put herself through that."

Afua Hagan, a royal expert, told Express that Meghan Markle's decision not to attend the event is a "masterstroke" as it prevents the public from criticizing or mocking her. Hagan explained, "She has taken away the ability for people to criticise what she's wearing, what she's doing, or not getting in a car the right way. People won't be able to mock her."
