According to a royal author, the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles ceased taking phone calls from Prince Harry after he relocated to California.

In 2020, Prince Harry stepped down from his royal duties and moved to Montecito, California, with his wife Meghan Markle. Despite their departure, he remained in contact with his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal commentator Robert Jobson, who recently penned a book titled Our King Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, asserts that as tensions between high-ranking members of the royal family escalated, the late Queen and King Charles stopped taking Harry's calls altogether.

Jobson contends that Harry regularly phoned his grandmother from California until he "kept trying to air his grievances." The late Queen then "asked him to speak directly to his father instead," Jobson claimed.

In an excerpt from the book published by MailOnline, Jobson writes that a source informed him: "Her Majesty found Prince Harry's calls quite difficult and wearisome. She didn't want to interfere in the father/son relationship and would urge him to speak to his father."

Jobson further alleges that Charles eventually "stopped taking Harry's calls after his son swore at him and repeatedly asked for funds." The author writes, "When the Queen asked Charles why he hadn't given in, he told her that he wasn't a bank."

The royal author claims that the Queen "felt let down" by Harry's decision to step back from his royal duties and viewed the Sussexes' departure "as a missed opportunity." However, the Queen reportedly hoped "her grandson would find peace and happiness" in his new life.

Additionally, Jobson's book reveals that royal aides allegedly referred to Prince Harry as "Meghan's hostage" behind the couple's back. The author also claims that these aides suspected the Duke of Sussex was experiencing Stockholm syndrome, in which victims develop empathy for their captors.

Jobson wrote about the reaction to Harry's departure: "There was a point when officials joked Harry was the victim of Stockholm syndrome, and he was Meghan's hostage, but now most just feel Harry has turned his back on everything he has known."
