As Queen Camilla prepares to be crowned alongside King Charles during his coronation, she may face backlash from her stepson, Prince William, due to the palace's choice of scepter for the event.

Queen Camilla and Prince William's Potential Disagreement The palace has confirmed that Queen Camilla will use an ivory scepter during King Charles' coronation. However, this decision could provoke strong opposition from Prince William, who has been an outspoken critic of the modern ivory trade, as reported by Express.

Prince William has campaigned against the illegal trafficking of animal parts, including rhino horn and elephant ivory, through his organization United for Wildlife. In 2021, he praised a "landmark" sentencing of a man who was jailed for five years for conspiring to traffic rhinoceros horns and elephant ivory worth millions of dollars.

The Duke of Cambridge has also been a patron of the conservation charity Tusk Trust since 2005. This British non-profit organization, founded in 1990, focuses on wildlife conservation efforts across Africa, working to protect African elephants, rhinoceros, and lions, among other threatened species.

The UK has taken a leading role in global conservation efforts with the implementation of the Ivory Act 2018. Starting from June 6, 2022, a near-total ban on items containing elephant ivory has been in place.

Despite this, the palace appears to be unfazed by its collection's inclusion of ivory, suggesting that the use of the material was unavoidable.

A spokesperson stated, according to Express, "As with any historical collection of its size, it is to be expected that the Royal Collection includes items that contain ivory as this reflected the taste at the time."

The potential impact of Camilla's use of an ivory scepter on her relationship with Prince William remains unknown, as neither party has made a statement on the matter.

Camilla's Relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry In her book Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort, royal biographer Angela Levin discusses Camilla's relationship with King Charles' sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She explains that Camilla was more of a friendly adult presence they occasionally encountered at royal events when they were younger.

Regarding her relationship with Prince William, Levin says they have a good rapport. However, Prince William has reportedly clarified that Camilla will not be a step-grandmother to his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Levin writes, "William has made it clear that Camilla is the wife of his father, but not a step-grandmother to his children."

Levin adds that the three Cambridge children have "two grandfathers but only one grandmother." Queen Camilla is said to have no issues with Prince William's stance on the matter, as Levin continues, "Nor has she [Queen Camilla] tried to take over any responsibility as a stepgrandmother to the Cambridges' children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Especially as Catherine's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are so close."

Will Prince William express anger at Queen Camilla for agreeing to use an ivory scepter at King Charles' coronation? Only time will tell.
