The absence of former first lady Melania Trump from her husband's recent arraignment and post-arrest speech has sparked curiosity and speculation among social media users.

Melania was notably absent when former president Donald Trump, 76, appeared at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City on Tuesday after being indicted on 34 felony counts related to hush money payments to two women, including adult film actress Stormy Daniels. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The former first lady was also not present during her husband's address to the press and supporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Tuesday night, although several of his children were in attendance.

Twitter users took notice of Melania's absence and speculated on her reasons for not being present during her husband's legal battle. Some suggested that her absence was a sign of her opinion on Donald's indictment, while others noted her well-known desire for privacy.

One Twitter user wondered, "Where was Melania? What wife isn't with her husband when he is in court on an indictment?"

Another Twitter user joked about Melania's "Be Best" campaign, asking if she would not "stand by her man."

A third user acknowledged her private nature but still expressed curiosity about her whereabouts.

Melania's former aide and close friend, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, shared her thoughts on the former first lady's absence with Page Six, stating, "Melania lives in an ivory tower of denial." Wolkoff added that Melania's silence is "deliberate" and serves as her "protective armor."

Last week, Melania was seen with her husband dining at Mar-a-Lago, shortly after a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict him. According to the New York Post, guests at the restaurant stood up to applaud the Trumps as they entered.

Despite her absence at the arraignment, an anonymous source previously told People that Melania would continue to support her husband. "They weren't expecting [the indictment], but Melania will support him," the insider said. "That's what she does. They are a family."

Melania is reportedly focusing on raising their 17-year-old son, Barron.
