A royal commentator reportedly believes reconciliation between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the British Royal Family will happen if both sides take accountability.

Express UK said that the claims were from Afua Hagan, who discussed the matter during a recent exchange with them. It comes as the Duke of Sussex is said to be looking for an apology from members of his family.

The royal expert told the publication she thinks “a reconciliation will take an apology” from the British Royals to the former working royals and “accountability on both sides.”

But, while Hagan noted in the exchange that the Royal Family should take “more accountability,” particularly “for the things that they have done and perpetuated,” she said she thinks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “also need to take some accountability as well.”

The royal commentator later suggested the British Royals are “going to want something as well.”

She explained to the outlet that the royals “won’t want it to be them just apologizing,” and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “going thank you and walking away.”

Earlier in January, ahead of the release of his memoir, “Spare,” the royal-born Prince sat down for an interview with ITV.

He spoke to journalist Tom Bradby and discussed his thoughts about the possibility of reconciling with the British Royal Family, according to E! News.

In the exchange, Prince Harry is said to have noted that he “100 percent” believes there is a chance to reconcile. But, he claimed that his family has “shown absolutely no willingness” to do so “up until this point,” as per the outlet.

The Duke of Sussex is also said to have pointed out that while he “would like to have reconciliation,” he would “like accountability,” as well, reportedly adding that he has “managed to make peace over this time with a lot of things that have happened. But that doesn’t mean that I’m just gonna let it go.”

Members of the British Royal Family have not commented on the matter. They have also remained silent about the claims Prince Harry made in his book, which hit shelves on January 10.

Despite this, though, a royal insider spoke to People following the release of the memoir. As stated, King Charles III and Prince William “will be feeling betrayed,” noting that “things that have happened to them, really personal things, are now played out in the public arena.”

The same source also told the magazine, which published the assertions on January 11, that some of the stories about the British Royals in the book are “not [Harry’s] to tell.”
