A new Quinnipiac University poll shows 50 percent of voters are planning to vote for the former vice president Joe Biden if the election were held today. Donald Trump, on the other hand, received support from only 39 percent of voters who said they would vote for him.

In an earlier poll, which was published on Apr. 8, Biden had 49 percent voters backing him, while 41 percent voters were willing to vote for Trump, but the new poll shows Biden has a considerable 11-point lead over his opponent. Considering Biden's 11-point lead, Newsweek suggests voter confidence in Trump is undecided.

With elections only about six months away, coronavirus cases continue to rise making voters question the president's judgment, Tim Malloy, Quinnipiac University polling analyst pointed out in a statement. The poll assessed 1,323 registered voters between May 14 to May 18 with a plus or minus 2.7 percent points of a margin of error. CNBC/Change Research conducted another poll, revealing that Biden only had a slight advantage over the POTUS.

Assessing 1,424 potential voters from May 15 to May 17, the poll found Biden got 48 percent, while Trump garnered 45 percent. This poll's margin of error was plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. Another poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov from May 17 to May 19 found Biden was leading Trump by 5 points. The former vice president received 47 percent, while Trump got 42 percent with 1,500 adults been surveyed. This poll had plus or minus 3.1 percentage points in terms of margin of error.

The CNBC/Change Research survey and the Quinnipiac poll shows that American people are more likely to trust Biden more than Trump when it comes to handling the coronavirus outbreak better. The Quinnipiac poll suggests 55 percent of registered U.S. voters claim Biden will be able to better handle the outbreak, while only 39 percent backed Trump's ability to spearhead the nation in the time of this unprecedented crisis.

The CNBC/Change Research poll shows 50 percent of voters support Biden, while 43 percent favored President Trump. The Economist/YouGov poll did not consider who the people thought would be in a better position to handle the outbreak, but it revealed the nation's lack of confidence in Trump's response.

While a noteworthy 51percent of the respondents felt uneasy about Trump's handling of the outbreak, 37 percent trusted the president to handle the situation well. While Biden seems to have a nation-wide lead over Trump, the CNBC/Change Research poll revealed that the president is leading his rival in several battleground states.

The poll surveyed 4,408 potential voters in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, and Arizona and discovered that Trump was leading Biden with 48 percent voters willing to vote for him again, and 46 percent voters saying they would vote for Biden.
