Meghan Markle never intended to stay as a working royal in the British Monarchy. This is the latest assertion of a royal biographer following the Sussex couple’s recent visit to Queen Elizabeth II.

Speaking to Express UK, Howard Hodgson stated that the Duchess of Sussex liked the “idea of being a princess.” He noted that it was like Prince Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana, who became the Princess of Wales upon marrying Prince Charles in 1981.

The expert countered, however, that the late royal did not “genuinely” understand that “being a princess is a horrible thing.” He believes that “she found out quite quickly that [the royal life as a princess] is not Cinderella.”

Unlike her, though, Meghan Markle reportedly “knew [these things] the whole time.” Hodgson, then, added that “she just had no intention of staying.”

The public would recall that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working royals earlier in 2020. They consequently relocated to the United States and have since resided in Montecito, California, alongside their two children.

The report comes amid Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s trip to Europe. The former working royals flew to the continent for the Invictus Games, which officially began on April 16.

Before the opening ceremony, though, the Sussex couple stopped over in the United Kingdom to visit Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. CBS News reported that a spokesperson for the couple confirmed the matter, which the Duke of Sussex, later on, shared before the public.

The royal-born Prince was last in his home country in July 2021. He flew back twice since their formal exit for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue and the funeral of Prince Philip, who passed away in April 2021.

As for the former actress, their recent flight marks the first time of her return to the country since 2020.

Meanwhile, when asked for comment regarding the secret visit to the British Monarch, Buckingham Palace reportedly said it would not release any statement on “private matters.”

Nevertheless, Prince Harry recently revealed some details about his and Meghan Markle’s visit to Queen Elizabeth II. In an engagement with TODAY, he described the meeting as “great.”

The royal-born Prince, also, shared that his grandmother was in “great form” following her COVID-19 contraction and recovery. He added that “it was nice to see her,” and he and his wife “had a laugh or two when they had tea” with the Queen.
