The ongoing pandemic had made this year extremely difficult for many people. There are celebrities from the entertainment and sports industry trying to do their part to help. Recently, The Goonies cast members and the basketball legend Michael Jordan announced that they would help to feed hungry.

Both the announcements were made separately as the 57-year-old player donated $2 million he earned from The Last Dance to relieve the people struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic during the holiday season.

Jordan said in an official statement shared by Feeding America's Twitter handle that it is an unimaginable difficulty people are facing in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The times are extremely challenging for common people, and it is important to take a moment and "give thanks" through Feeding America.

On the other hand, the cast members of The Goonies, including Joe Pantoliano, Jonathan Ke Quan, Kerri Green, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, Sean Astin, and Josh Brolin, will reunite to raise funds for No Kid Hungry.

The gang will come together on Dec. 5 for the virtual fundraiser, who starred in the adventure film released in 1985. The reunion is free to watch as they want maximum viewers to be encouraged to donate to the families and children.

The movie was based on a story developed by Steven Spielberg and written by Chris Columbus while it was helmed by Richard Donner. The film featured a group of children who went on a journey looking for buried treasure by the pirates.

However, things went downhill for the kids as they come across a criminal family. Interestingly, this is not the first time The Goonies cast had come together for a reunion in 2020, even before the cast members, including Spielberg and Cyndi Lauper, appeared in Reunited Apart With Josh Gad event.

The event gained over three million views on YouTube, while in a statement, Donner thanked everyone for helping the No Kid Hungry campaign.

The 90-year-old director noted that 2020 requires the same camaraderie, sacrifice, and bravery during the pandemic, as shown in the movie. The organization that initiated the campaign Share Our Strength’s CEO, Tom Nelson, also joined in and said that there are many students learning online compared to before.

He noted that many people had lost their wages and jobs while there are numerous children hungry due to the ongoing crisis. He thanked the cast members of the movie, Warner Media, and Warner Bros. along with everyone who is attending the virtual event to support the kids in need.
