Blake Shelton, who recently announced his engagement with Gwen Stefani, was first married to fellow country music singer Miranda Lambert. They fell in love on stage during a performance.

Shelton tied the knot with Kaynette Williams in 2003, before calling it quits three years later in 2006. Williams, who previously worked as the country singer's road manager, is from Oklahoma as well, Country Fancast reported. Although Lambert wasn't married at the time, she knew Shelton was married.

Their lives changed after they were paired to sing at a concert together. Shelton and Lambert performed at a CMT 100 Greatest Duets Concert, where they sang "You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma," and that's all it took to spark a connection between them.

In an interview with VH1’s Behind the Music, Shelton admitted that he never had that kind of experience with anybody. Noting that he was a married man at the time, Shelton said he couldn't help falling in love with Lambert on stage.

Lambert said there was instant chemistry between them but said they waited until 2006 when Shelton got a divorce to get into a relationship. Shelton told PEOPLE that every time he hears that song, he instantly goes back to that time.

They eventually got married in 2011, but it didn't last too long as they announced their breakup in 2015 and divorced in the same year. Shelton got closer to Stefani while working on The Voice, and they bonded over the recent divorces.

Shelton told Billboard that the No Doubt alum refrains from divulging a lot of details about her split from the Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale as they didn't know each other at the time. All she said was that she, too, was going through something similar, and that's how their friendship and bond started.

They started with checking in on each other once a week, and soon Shelton gave her his number just in case she wanted to text. The 44-year-old singer said he soon realized that Stefani was all that he cared about but wasn't sure if she felt the same about him.

Before announcing their engagement on their social media platforms in Oct., Shelton and Stefani were in a relationship for several years. Moving on from their split, Lambert married NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin last year.

It is clear that even today, Shelton enjoys performing with his partner, as is evident from the multiple duets he has released with Stefani. What do you think about Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's chemistry on stage? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
