Queen Elizabeth’s reign as the monarch of the British royal family is close to coming to its end, as the sovereign age has been a significant concern for many royal commentators and experts.

In a talk with Robert Lacey on DailyMail UK, the royal historian and author gave his two cents regarding Prince Charles's apparent crowning and Prince William’s chances of becoming King first.

According to Lacey, he firmly believes that Prince Charles will not hand the crown to Prince William easily, commenting that the heir apparent has made it his life goals to be King.

“Would it much better be William and Kate? I myself don't think he would willingly step down from the destiny he has waited for so long,” Lacey said.

The conversation of who will be King after Queen Elizabeth has been going on for months now and with the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee coming close, it is hard for royal experts not to talk about the chances of Prince Charles and Prince William.

Celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee is to recognize her 70 years of being the monarch, the longest reign in England's history.

This celebration has also reminded people of Prince Charles decades of waiting to become King. Apparently, Prince Charles is the longest heir apparent in history as well.

Many believe that Prince Charles' age will matter when it comes to making him King as well as his popularity. Prince William and wife Kate Middleton are more popular than him and Camilla Parker-Bowles, which might be of importance for the royal firm.

But Lacey has reiterated that Prince Charles and wife, Camilla, have been stepping up their royal duties, taking over several of the Queen’s engagements.

News of the couple flying to Germany over the weekend to attend the Central Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday to commemorate the country's annual National Day of Mourning is a major sign that the Prince is being prepared for his Kingship.

Camilla Parker-Bowles has also stepped up for Prince Philip’s many responsibilities after he retired in 2017. The Duchess of Cornwall took on the responsibility of becoming the Chief Commander of Prince Philip's naval platoon.

She has also taken Prince Harry’s place during Remembrance Day.

Prince William’s reign will come one day, but it is highly unlikely that Prince Charles will abdicate the throne to make a place for William despite what rumors have been circulating.
