Pennsylvania State Senator Jake Corman has debunked a rumor that suggests Pennsylvania lawmakers would directly appoint presidential electors in a bid to get involved in the presidential race. Republican state legislators have demanded an audit of the recently concluded election results before electors take their seats.

Corman has denied the rumor for quite some time, noting that the state lawmakers will not be influencing the presidential election by appointing presidential electors. Corman, who is the majority leader of Pennsylvania, a GOP-run state Senate, teamed up with another legislator for an Oct. op-ed, noting that the General Assembly neither does nor will have a hand as far as choosing Pennsylvania's presidential electors is concerned.

Taking to his Twitter account on Sep. 25, Corman tweeted a statement, confirming that he has had zero contact with the Trump campaign or others regarding how the state chooses electors. With Trump refusing to accept the result of the election and come to terms with Joe Biden's victory, coupled with top Republicans backing the president's baseless claims about widespread voter fraud, GOP state leaders, including Corman is feeling the pressure to somehow reverse the results of the race.

According to POLITICO, after 98 percent of the estimated vote had been reported, Trump is trailing Biden by 45,659 votes, which translates to 0.7 percentage points. Various corners of the party serve as the source of this pressure, with South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, pressuring the states to magically change the election results.

Top Trump ally, Graham demanded that everything should be on the table when asked if Pennsylvania based Republican lawmakers and elsewhere should declare election results null and void, citing alleged corruption. Reacting to the party's support of Trump, who refuses to come to terms with the election results, House Majority Whip Representative Jim Clyburn said he no longer recognize Lindsey Graham, CNN's sources reported.

DeSantis insisted that state legislators make sure that they have used every option available to them in an attempt to ensure that there is a fair count, despite the lack of any evidence showing election fraud. A key group comprising conservative Pennsylvania state legislators held a Harrisburg press conference on Tuesday, demanding an audit of the US elections 2020 ahead of electors taking their seats.

GOP state Rep. Dawn Keefer raised concerns about the future of their commonwealth. He represents certain parts of York and Cumberland counties, both of which voted for the president by double-digit percentage points, noting that the situation calls for the General Assembly's involvement by taking extraordinary measures in an attempt to respond to these extraordinary questions.
