Royal fans couldn’t help but feel disappointed after learning that Prince William hid his COVID-19 diagnosis from them.

Royal author Robert Jobson was one of the people that questioned the Duke of Cambridge’s decision to keep his diagnosis a secret.

According to The Sun, Prince William shared his diagnosis with one of the attendees at an engagement. And he said that he didn’t want to alarm the world with his diagnosis. After all, Prince Charles was just diagnosed with COVID-19 weeks earlier.

On his Twitter account, Jobson called the Duke of Cambridge’s decision to not share his diagnosis appalling. The royal author also noted how reporters asked the royal family if Prince William contracted the virus and they deliberately said no.

However, the truth is that Prince William tested positive for COVID-19 in April. And the royal family’s denial, reportedly, created a serious issue of mistrust.

Jobson also said that if the royal family can lie about something as serious as Prince William’s COVID-19 diagnosis, they can also lie about other things. This could cause major issues in the future.

ITV News royal editor Chris Ship said that the public should believe Prince William’s explanation of why he decided to keep his diagnosis a secret. He also said that Prince William’s revelation that his wife and kids didn’t contact the virus should also be believed.

Canadian royal expert Patricia Treble echoed Jobson’s statement by saying that what Prince William did feels like a questionable judgment on his part. After all, cover-ups are always damaging especially when they come from the royal family or high-profile individuals.

A source told The Sun that Prince William’s symptoms were quite serious because he suffered breathing difficulties at one point. While he was recovering from the virus, he, reportedly, quarantined at Anmer Hall.

In March, the palace confirmed that Prince Charles contacted the deadly virus. But the heir to the throne recovered from the illness even before he completed the 14-day quarantine period.

Three months later, Prince Charles told Sky News that he was still lucky because he got away lightly following the diagnosis.

Prince Charles also said that he sympathizes with those that were also diagnosed and those who’ve lost a loved one because of COVID-19.

“But in order to prevent this happening to so many more people, I'm so determined to find a way out of this,” Prince Charles said.

Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, didn’t test positive for COVID-19 and neither did Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
