Queen Elizabeth has been accused of being a hypocrite for criticizing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lucrative business ventures.

During an interview on The Royal Beat, royal author Robert Lacey said that it’s hypocritical for the royal family to criticize the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s ways of making money.

Since quitting The Firm, Prince Harry and Markle have accepted a slew of speaking engagements and deals. They have also signed a deal with Netflix.

According to Lacey, other members of the royal family also use their titles to make a profit. In fact, the queen even has her own gin and a shower cap with her coat of arms on sale at Buckingham Palace.

Host Kate Thornton said that if the queen herself can sell products to earn a profit, Prince Harry and Markle could certainly do the same.

Lacey added that the royal family shouldn’t sound too self-righteous about the ways they can make money. After all, they should think of ways to earn more income so that they won’t depend solely on taxpayers.

Prince Harry and Markle were criticized for signing a lucrative deal with Netflix. In September, some critics claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been plotting their deal with Netflix even before they quit The Firm.

During an interview on True Royalty TV, royal author Angela Levin said that the deal was the biggest exploitation of the royal family in this lifetime. After all, Levin is convinced that the Sussexes already thought about signing a deal with Netflix even before they tied the knot.

Levin also accused Markle of using the royal family to become one of the most famous and richest women in the world despite only being a C-lister years ago.

Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe also said that he doesn’t think Prince Harry and Markle would’ve gotten the deal if not for their royal connection. He also said that the couple owes their success to the royal family so they need to

However, Lacey insisted that Prince Harry and Markle shouldn’t be criticized over their deal with Netflix. In fact, it’s, reportedly, a respectable decision that they made.

After all, Lacey said that it is the royal family that has stooped so low to make extra profit. For instance, Prince Charles is selling Duchy biscuits, and the queen is selling shower caps and gin.

As of late, the queen has not released a statement regarding Prince Harry and Markle’s Netflix deal.
