Dwayne Johnson ended up injuring his face during a workout at the gym recently. The  48-year-old actor said he would need stitches after getting lumped up, throwing chains for a drop set.

Johnson took to his Instagram account to share a video of his gym on Monday. The 6 feet, 5-inches tall fitness enthusiast said in the video that he got hit in the face with 50lb  chains and would need stitches.

He starts the video by noting that oftentimes things get intense in the Iron Paradise, his home gym, before pointing out that they aren't reciting nursery rhymes or playing tiddlywinks to suggest staying fit is a serious business. He showed off a trickle of blood at his left temple, noting that he gets lumped up some times during a workout, and injuries like these happen.

The former WWE Superstar then wiped some blood from his face before giving it a lick. He joked that his blood tastes good before heading back to work. In the caption section, Johnson points out that things tend to get extremely intense in the gym and explain how he got the cut.

He tells his 201 million Instagram followers that he was throwing around his 50lb chains for a drop set and got lumped up. He also wrote that he would need stitches before sharing the house rules, which focuses on training now and getting stitches later.

He joked that his blood tastes like Teremana, calluses, and BlaMoan, a term used to describe black and Samoan, "Hot Sauce," he wrote. He wished his followers a productive week ahead and advised them to keep workout light and fun but to take it seriously. He used hashtags #teamchaingang and #blamoanhotsauce" in the caption.

It has been a tough few weeks for the Fast & Furious star, who announced last month that he and his family had tested positive for the coronavirus, but were recovering, PEOPLE reported. Johnson shares several photos from his home gym with his Instagram followers.

Over the weekend, the former professional wrestler shared another photo from the gym, noting that he was grateful to grind and that the workout was inspired. On Friday, he took to the photo and video-sharing website to encourage his fans to finish this year on a strong, positive uptick.

Noting that 2020 has been a kick in the gut, Johnson wrote he is determined to control everything that he can control and urged his followers to finish the year on an optimistic note.
