The White House said Donald Trump will be hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for the next few days after the president was shifted to country's largest and most renowned joint military medical center. Coming out of the White House at 6:16 p.m. ET for his first public appearance, 16 hours after announcing that he had tested positive for coronavirus, Trump walked to his waiting helicopter without requiring any sort of assistance, nor did he show major signs of illness.

Donning a navy blue suit, a blue-tinted silk necktie, and a dark face mask, Trump waved to the media and continued talking as he gave thumbs up to the reporters. Chief of staff Mark Meadows, who was also wearing a mask, followed the president aboard.

Trump landed at the hospital, saluted his military aides, and then climbed into his limousine for a short ride to the hospital's main building. He continued waving as he speeds past the media gathered there.

Trump took to his Twitter account after his arrival at the hospital to post an 18-second video, assuring American people he was doing "very well" after his COVID-19 diagnosis. "I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support," he wrote.

The president said he is going to Walter Reed Hospital, and they will ensure that things work out. He then gave an update on the first lady's health, noting she is doing very well. He concluded the tweet expressing gratitude towards his supporters and wrote he will never for it.

His response did not reflect the seriousness of the situation. It is extremely rare for a president to overnight in the hospital, considering the expansive medical facilities available at the White House. A person familiar with the president's reaction after he tested positive for coronavirus on Friday said Trump was spooked after announcing that he contracted the virus.

Moreover, the person said he has become increasingly alarmed by his diagnosis as he developed a fever and other symptoms overnight. A Trump adviser also claimed there is a reason for concern about the president's health, adding that Trump was very tired, fatigued, and even had difficulty breathing.

White House officials have serious concerns regarding Trump's health, a source familiar with the situation said. A top administration official told CNN that although Trump "OK, for now, our fear is that things can change quickly." Another source revealed that Trump's condition is worse than first lady Melania Trump's.
