A Biden adviser described Friday, as a day of “hibernation,” as part of a strategy crafted to let the news cycle to burn on its own fuel. Campaign advisers said American people will come to their own conclusion that the president's inability to protect the country and to take the pandemic seriously enough had come to haunt him.

Furthermore, they suggest the public would realize that Trump's mockery of Joe Biden for wearing masks and being holed up "in his basement" was now conveyed with an irony that could lead the president to lose his second term. With just 32 days until Election Day, Biden was on the campaign trail in Michigan on Friday, while Trump and the first lady were in quarantine.

Biden donor and a South Carolina lawmaker Dick Harpootlian described the situation saying, "Karma’s hell." Harpootlian pointed out that Biden was right all along, adding that there is no joy in being right and you just want to ensure that no one gets ill.

He went on to explain that nobody was pleased with Trump contracting the virus, but noted that just four weeks ahead of the Election Day, Trump took himself off the playing field because of his own ignorance about the severity of the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the advice of medical professionals, Biden’s aides, went to extraordinary lengths to keep the Democratic presidential nominee and the campaign safe amid the still raging pandemic. Aside from following safe practices, they ignored months of criticism from Trump and others who accused Biden of appearing weak and hiding in his basement, POLITICO reported.

Biden's campaign did not find out Trump tested positive for COVID-19 from the president, or the White House but through news reports. While there were concerns among aides over whether the former vice president or any staffers had become infected due to the proximity of the two staffs during the first presidential debate on Tuesday in Cleveland, but it was reduced by their confidence that they followed the strictest health protocols all along.

The staffers were tested on a regular basis, wore masks, restricted crowd sizes, and practiced social media distancing at all times. Advisers gathered on Friday to talk about a range of possibilities, including whether Biden should continue traveling or the campaign should come up with a new plan to enable door-to-door canvassing in four states.

Although Biden traveled to Grand Rapids, Mich on Friday, as planned, the campaign canceled a fundraiser scheduled for later in the day. It looks like the door knocking will go on.
