Kelly Clarkson got sued by her father-in-law's management company amid her divorce case. As per the documents, Starstruck Management Group has sued the 38-year-old singer and songwriter as they owe her unpaid commission of $1.4 million.

The filed suit claimed that there was an oral contract between the artist and the company that, allegedly, got breached by Clarkson. The suit also claimed that it breaches accounting and declaratory relief. While the company is owned by Narvel Blackstock, who is the father of her husband Brandon Blackstock, the claim took place after she filed a divorce from her estranged husband.

Clarkson has been representing the company for over 13 years and also she also paid a commission of 15 percent based on gross earnings. According to the claim, the singer has made payment to the company of $1.9 million in 2020 while the company owes the I Don't Think About You singer more $1.4 million.

Moreover, the management company might claim further $5.4 million as an estimated commission on the singer's earning by end of the year. The suit mentioned that the company helped the singer to become the "mega-superstar" she is today.

"Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple GRAMMY wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like The Voice and her own talk show," company claimed.

Starstruck Entertainment Group further said that it is the company's dedication and hard work and now, the singer has pronounced that she won't be paying the company what is owed as per the contract. While the company clarified in the lawsuit that there is no written contract between the company and Clarkson, the terms were discussed with the singer's business manager and attorney verbally in 2007.

The suit also claimed that the singer confirmed the deal with her father-in-law at that time, who is the founder of the company. As per the lawsuit, Clarkson has violated the verbal agreement and the company should get a commission of her future earnings from her talk show named The Kelly Clarkson Show, her business deal with an online store, Wayfair, and The Voice.

The singer filed for divorce in June from her husband and they share two kids, River Rose Blackstock, who is 6-year-old, and Remington Alexander Blackstock who is 4-year-old. A couple of weeks back, Clarkson said in an interview that she is looking forward to having an "amicable split" with her husband and wants to have a positive experience.
