Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are slammed for still using their royal titles even after they quit The Firm.

But according to a royal expert, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will continue using their titles because they were a gift from Queen Elizabeth. And as with any other gift, returning their titles or refusing to use them will be regarded as rude.

While speaking with Express, royal author Nigel Cawthorne talked about the couple’s titles.

“I don’t think there is the slightest chance that the Sussexes will give up their titles. They were a wedding present by the queen to the married couple and it would be a very ungrateful gesture to relinquish these titles as it would, in effect, be a snub to Harry’s grandmother the Queen,” he said.

Last week, the couple’s first TV appearance was announced. And in the announcement, they were simply referred to as Harry and Meghan. Multiple publications started claiming that Prince Harry and Markle will no longer use their royal titles for good. However, this isn’t the case.

According to more reliable sources, there are times wherein Prince Harry and Markle want to only be referred to by their first names. But there are also times wherein they want to be addressed as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

While speaking with Insider, royal commentator Robert Jobson also said that it’s unlikely for the queen to revoke the couple’s royal titles. But after their Megxit, the monarch revoked the couple’s HRH titles.

“I understand why there is clamoring to withdraw the royal titles. But in any view, it is too late and would be petty and vindictive. The Queen made the decision to honor Harry by making him a royal duke on his wedding day. He is, and will always be, a prince — given he is the second son of the heir to the throne,” he said.

Royal author Katie Nicholl also said the same thing. She said that it is unlikely for the queen to revoke Prince Harry’s title because it is his birthright.

Activist Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu also said that there’s nothing left to strip Prince Harry of because the queen can’t strip off royalty from his blood.

"Such double standards — other Royals benefit 'commercially' from their titles/royal birth,” the activist said.
