Prince Harry was gravely affected by the sudden demise of his mom, Princess Diana.

Back then, the Duke of Sussex was still very young. And according to royal experts, Prince Harry started acting up shortly after he lost his mother.

Following his 36th birthday, New Idea compiled a series of throwback photos of Prince Harry from when he was still in school. Some of the photos revealed that he kept a framed photo of the Princess of Wales on his table.

Upon closer inspection, there are no other photos on Prince Harry’s table, which is inside his dorm room other than Princess Diana’s portrait.

The Duke of Sussex, however, had a cut-out snap of Halle Berry from a magazine that he placed on his wall.

During an interview with The Telegraph’s podcast, Mad World, Prince Harry opened up about the struggles he faced after his mom’s death. He said that there were several occasions wherein he felt that he was close to breaking down.

“I just couldn’t put my finger on it. I just didn’t know what was wrong with me. Everyone was saying boxing is good for you and it’s a really good way of letting out aggression. And that really saved me because I was on the verge of punching someone, so being able to punch someone who had pads was certainly easier,” he said.

Markle’s husband also stressed that his mental health issues stemmed from the Princess of Wales’ death and not from his time serving in Afghanistan.

After several years, Prince Harry finally decided to seek professional help and things became much better for him.

“[I] started to have a few conversations and actually all of a sudden, all of this grief that I have never processed started to come to the forefront. And I was like, there is actually a lot of stuff here that I need to deal with,” he said.

Prince Harry also spearheaded the Heads Together campaign with Prince William and Kate Middleton to focus on mental health issues and encourage other people to discuss such serious problems.

“Once you start talking about it, you realize that you’re part of quite a big club…and everybody’s gagging to talk about it. I can’t encourage people enough to just have that conversation, because you will be surprised firstly, how much support you get, and secondly, how many people literally are longing for you to come out,” he said.
