Contrary to assumptions, Katy Perry and other pregnant women, stars or not, are not safer in giving birth at home than in the hospital, even with the pandemic going on. In fact, a doctor says the opposite is true.

While it is tempting to just deliver a baby at home instead of at the hospital, where may Covid-19 patients lie and are getting treated, doing so might put the mom and the kid more at risk. According to Dr. Daniel Roshan, one of NY’s top Ob-gynes, pregnant women should give birth in a hospital to prevent complications.

Speaking with Hollywood Life, the doctor said that hospital births are still way more secure and safer than home births. The coronavirus pandemic does not change that. Serious complications often happen during home births, and these should be prevented. Giving birth is hard enough with all the pushing and labored breathing, but these are hardly the only issues with giving birth. A fully-equipped hospital is a mom’s best bet for giving birth; even if one is a wealthy celebrity like Katy Perry.

“There can always be emergencies with babies and fetal distress, hemorrhage, and bleeding,” Dr. Roshan explained. “So the general complications, those complications are a lot higher risk than getting Coronavirus.”

The pandemic is undoubtedly NOT a joke. Frontliners or medical professionals are getting infected because they are exposed to the patients who tested positive for the virus or just people under monitoring. Still, hospitals have in place some really strong precautionary measures in place to make sure expectant moms can give birth without being exposed to the virus. “Each hospital has their own protocols but most hospitals have different floors for COVID-19 patients,” he said. “Labor and delivery floors are separate. They don’t mix them up. If a patient is pregnant and has COVID-19 and has symptoms, they are probably going to be filling those floors or in a separate room that has a negative pressure. So they serve to keep them separate.”

Mix-ups may seem possible in the active imaginations of people, which is understandable, but good hospitals will never let that happen.

Katy Perry is presently at home doing self-isolation with hubby Orlando Bloom. According to past reports, while Perry is worried about the pandemic in general, she is not anxious about giving birth in such an uncertain time. Essentially, this is because Bloom is such a nice husband and making sure all her needs at this precarious time are being met.
