People all around the world are doing their best to stem the spread of the coronavirus, so it can be a little frustrating to hear news about people violating safety measures recommended by health officials. It’s doubly so when a celebrity does it, as seems to be the case with the Beckhams.

The Sun reports that the couple caught the coronavirus in the United States as they celebrated the launch of the 45-year-old’s new football club, Inter Miami. Aside from the couple, staff members and even relatives have also, reportedly, caught the virus.

The publication says the couple flew back to the United Kingdom and held a 21st birthday party for their son Brooklyn, with famous guests like former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and musician Stormzy. When tests confirmed them as positive for the coronavirus, Victoria, reportedly, feared they were super-spreaders.

The Mirror quotes a source as saying that the celebrity couple took part in a number of networking events that involved them kissing fans and shaking hands, both activities that have been known to spread the coronavirus.

Once the positive results for their COVID-19 tests came in, Victoria, reportedly, made the whole family quarantine for two weeks. The source also says that Victoria also checked in regularly with the rest of her staff that had also gotten ill and even provided them with care packages to get them through the disease.

There have already been a number of celebrities who have tested positive for the coronavirus, with the most recent one being Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and the rest of his family. Johnson made the revelation through a video posted on his Instagram account.

While he and his family have recovered from the disease, the action star says the experience has made him even more vigilant when it comes to protecting himself and his family. Johnson said that he would now be requiring visitors to his house to get tested for the coronavirus before being allowed to visit.

Another A-list star to test positive is Antonio Banderas, who spent more than two weeks in “disciplinary confinement” after testing positive for the coronavirus. Banderas wished strength to other people who have still not recovered from the disease.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Bryan Cranston have also tested positive and recovered from the coronavirus. All three of them have also helped out with research towards a coronavirus vaccine by donating their plasma.

According to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 dashboard, Sept. 7 saw the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases around the world rise to 27,032,617 people. The number of people that have died from COVID-19 is now at 881,464.
