The global coronavirus pandemic does not pick and choose who it infects, and it can certainly be seen in the number of celebrities that have been infected with the disease. The latest A-list star to reveal they are positive for COVID-19 is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Deadline reports that the action star made the revelation on his Instagram account, posting a video explaining that he and his family had tested positive for the disease. Couched as a health update for the last few weeks, Johnson said that his wife Lauren, his two children, and himself have had a challenging week with the disease.

Johnson added that if it were up to him, he would have preferred that he was the only one who was infected. According to him, finding out that his wife as well as his two-year-old daughter Tia and four-year-old daughter Jazy were also positive was a “real kick in the gut.”

Page Six notes that Johnson said any hardships or injuries he had suffered before as a professional wrestler did not match his experience with the coronavirus, mostly because his family also had the disease.

Johnson also revealed that they got coronavirus from family friends and despite adhering to the safety measures recommended by health officials. Thankfully, Johnson said that he and his family have already gotten past the worst parts of the disease and are recovering.

According to Johnson, the experience has made him even more vigilant with regard to protecting his family against the virus. The actor said that he would now be requiring visitors to his home to get tested for the coronavirus.

He also called on his followers to boost their immunity with vitamins as well as to wear masks, which he says he can not believe has become a political issue. Johnson described wearing masks as “the right thing to do.”

Johnson and his family are the latest well-known names to recover from the coronavirus. The most recent one was Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who revealed a few weeks ago that he had tested positive for the disease. After spending 21 days in “disciplinary confinement,” the actor said he was able to overcome the disease and wished strength for those who are still battling the disease.

Other notable names that survived the coronavirus include Amitabh Bachchan, Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, and Bryan Cranston. Cranston, Hanks, and Wilson have all donated their plasma to aid in the research for a coronavirus vaccine.

According to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 dashboard for Sept. 2, there are currently 25,602,665 confirmed COVID-19 cases globally. There are now 852,758 people around the world that have died from COVID-19.
