Blake Shelton came under fire from Twitterverse over the weekend after he shared a false claim regarding the coronavirus deaths. The baseless claim suggests only 6 percent of the 183k COVID-19 related deaths in the country were caused by the pathogen.

Shelton's tweet followed the removal of President Donald Trump's post about the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory, CNN reported. Noting that he isn't sure which political side his tweet would land on, the singer suggested that the new CDC update is actually good news.

The true CDC report points out that for 6 percent of victims, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned, while the remaining 94 percent of victims also suffered from a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and obesity can make a person more vulnerable to the virus. This does not imply that COVID-19 didn't play a role in their deaths.

Pointing out that everything these days end up in being a fight, Shelton said the updated info is better than most people thought. Responding to fans who asked the country singer what exactly he was referring to, Shelton clarified he was talking about the false 6 percent claim.

He went on to emphasize that he isn't looking for an argument before admitting that he should have been more clear that he was talking about the 6 percent news. His Twitter followers and fans didn't waste too much time in coming forward and correcting him.

"Do some actual research, Blake," one Twitterati wrote in his comments section. The Twitter user went on to say that a majority of American people have pre-existing health conditions, and a lot of them do not even know they have them, Daily Mail reported.

The fan went to ask if it was okay in Blake's opinion if these people contract the deadly COVID-19 because those without are more likely to live. The Twitterati suggested him to remain tight-lipped about things he doesn't understand.

The singer's response didn't seem to pay heed to the fan's correction but referred to the comments as argumentative. Shelton referred to the fan's response as an example of an argument that he didn't want to be a part of, saying all he wanted to say is COVID-19 is horrifying.

In another tweet, Shelton said he realizes that there is no way a fight wouldn't erupt about anything related to the coronavirus pandemic, regardless of how you present it. He concluded the tweet urging his followers to stay healthy and safe.
