Meghan Markle has been busy campaigning for women to vote in the coming U.S. elections in November and many royal observers think that this is a preview of her plans to run for office one day.

Apparently, being the President of the United States has been a childhood dream for the Duchess of Sussex. However, some royal fans wonder if Meghan can actually run if she's still a member of the royal family and carries the title, the Duchess of Sussex.

Professor Robert Hazell of University College London (UCL) said, via Yahoo, that Meghan has the legal and constitutional right to seek office in the U.S. because she qualifies in three aspects. She is a natural born American citizen and she is above 35 years old, who has been a resident for 14 years or more.

Hazell also said that the British royal family has no power, legal or otherwise, to prevent the Duchess of Sussex from taking a shot at the American presidency. Professor Vernon Bogdanor of the King's College London agreed with Hazell and said that no legal provision can make the royals obstruct Meghan's bid.

However, Bogdanor said that the Duchess of Sussex might be hampered by social pressures if she runs for office. If these pressures affect her popularity then she might not end up succeeding in her plans.

It will take a few more years for Meghan to dip her foot in politics since filing her candidacy won't happen until 2024. Nonetheless, her entrance will likely spark a debate as much as her current political expressions have been dividing royal fans today.

The Duchess of Sussex's visibility at online voting campaigns have some people calling on the Queen to remove Meghan's royal title. Presenter Piers Morgan and two other politicians said that Meghan's participation at Michelle Obama's When Women Vote conference encourages partisan politics and goes against royal protocols.

Members of the royal family don't usually express their political views and are respected for their neutrality. But Meghan's recent leanings show her allegiance with the Democrats.

However, some have pointed out that Queen Elizabeth once made calls for the people of Wales to vote in 2003, after a low turnout. Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie implied that what the Queen did is no different than what Meghan is currently doing to urge her fellow Americans to exercise their right.
