Meghan Markle has been one of the most controversial personality that has joined the British Royal family since the late Princess Diana. Meghan was formerly an actress and hailed from the United States. When she met Prince Harry, it was thought that she was just going to be another endeavor of the Prince but to everyone’s surprise, the Prince ended up marrying the least likely person he would.

In her time as a senior Royal, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, scandals after scandals were thrown at her. As the newest member of the Royal family, Meghan had a lot to learn.

The Royal family is known to be a very tight lip when it comes to its members. It was leaked to the public that Meghan was having a hard time acclimatizing in the Royal family.

People were quick to defend Meghan as British tabloids attacked her relentlessly. Meghan who’s life was turned upside down when she married Prince Harry had only a few friends she could turn to, and according to authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book ‘Finding Freedom’, Meghan made a startling confession to a close friend of hers.

“I gave up my entire life for this family. I was willing to do whatever it takes. But here we are. It’s very sad,” Meghan confessed to her friend about leaving her life to become a part of the Royal family.

Before Meghan left her old life, she was an activist and actress. She was known to support women’s rights and was very vocal about politics. In 2016 she commented that current POTUS, Donald Trump was ‘Misogynistic’.

In 2018, she came under heavy fire for supporting Ireland’s referendum result in legalizing abortion.

Royals are obligated to stay neutral in political matters.

Princess Diana’s words uttered years before she left the Royal family, eerily echoes that of Meghan sentiments about the old institution.

In a released phone call with James Gilbey, Princess Diana shared that she felt ‘sad and empty’ and after all the things she has done for the family, she was still left in the dust.

‘Finding Freedom’ explains that both Harry and Meghan felt like they were being patronized for far too long inside the Royal family. The late Princess Diana in the past also revealed that she too felt like she was patronized by the family and that she was being pitied rather than respected.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex officially left their posts as senior royals back in January 2020 and now the couple is based in California, US.
