Both Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have revealed their thoughts about Pinkett Smith’s “entanglement” with singer August Alsina, but other than releasing a song, the 27-year-old Alsina has not fully explained why he revealed the affair. However, Alsina is now speaking up.

People reports exclusively that Alsina decided to reveal his relationship with Pinkett Smith some time after it ended because he found that it was slowly starting to affect both his personal life and business life.

Alsina maintains that he is a very private person and that details of his love life have never been known before. However, the rumors about his affair with Pinkett Smith soon began to affect his business relationships, as people began to think he was disrespectful or reckless.

Maintaining good relationships had become very important to Alsina as he had become the legal guardian of his nieces Chaylin, Amaiya, and Kayden. He stressed that he had three kids to look after and that he was honest and truthful even if it meant people would hate him.

Fox News explains that Jada and Alsina first met in 2015, when Pinkett Smith was separated from Smith and contemplating divorce. At the time, Alsina was battling an addiction to painkillers and Pinkett Smith was the one to help him navigate and get out of that dark time.

In an episode of her Facebook talk show Red Table Talk, Pinkett Smith labeled the relationship an “entanglement” and said that she was very “broken” and in “a lot of pain” at the time. Pinkett Smith also clarified that Alsina was not a “home wrecker.”

Before this People exclusive, Alsina’s latest statement about his relationship with Pinkett Smith was the release of a song titled Entanglements, obviously referencing how Pinkett Smith labeled their relationship.

In the song, Alsina describes being tangled in the sheets. The singer also says that while what he had may not have been called a relationship, “she” is still f---in’ with him. While not directly named, the “she” in this scenario is likely Jada Pinkett Smith.

Before Pinkett Smith admitted to the entanglement on Red Table Talk, Alsina had spoken up on Instagram and insisted that he did not reveal the relationship to attack her. He also wrote that he understood why the actress would not admit to it. Instead, Alsina called the revelation a protest against the “invisible walls of silent societal construct.”

The singer also refused to apologize for the furor his revelation had unleashed, saying that he preferred being truthful and transparent even if it made people uncomfortable. He also labeled the situation as “just IS,” without assigning either himself or the Smiths as being on the right or wrong side of the situation.
