With questions about their relationship being the subject of online speculation for the past few weeks because of claims by musician August Alsina, there was no doubt that people would tune in to the Red Table Talk featuring husband and wife Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Deadline reports that the Red Table Talk episode featuring the couple drew in 15 million views during the first 24 hours of its release. While it is unclear if the number of views has broken any records, it is now the show’s most-viewed episode. The previous holder of the title was the episode that featured Jordyn Woods talking about her alleged affair with Tristan Thompson, NBA star and father to Khloe Kardashian’s daughter.

Variety recaps the 12-minute episode titled “Jada Brings Herself to the Table,” saying that the pair used the show as a way to discuss relationship troubles they have had in the past. This, of course, led to the revelation that Jada had an “entanglement” with Alsina during a time in her marriage when she was temporarily separated from Will.

According to Jada, the conversation between her and Will that was shown on Red Table Talk was recorded the week prior. It premiered on Friday with any notice and did not follow the usual set-up of the show as it only featured Will and Jada. Usually, Jada cohosts the show with her daughter Willow and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris.

This record-breaking episode of Red Table Talk came about because of persistent rumors linking Jada Pinkett Smith with 27-year-old musician August Alsina. The rumors came to a boil after Alsina revealed in an interview that Will gave his blessing for Jada and him to engage in an affair.

A representative for Will Smith quickly denied the claim, while Pinkett Smith tweeted out that she would be bringing herself to the immediately recognizable red table of the Red Table Talk.

Alsina stood by his claim, posting a message on his Instagram that said he understood why Pinkett Smith would deny their affair and claiming that he is not attacking her. Rather, he says he is protesting the “invisible walls of silent societal construct.”

The singer also said he would not apologize for being truthful and transparent even if doing so would make people feel uncomfortable. He also called the situation as something that “just IS” and refused to label either side as right or wrong.
