After a week of fevered guessing, twenty-eight-year-old American actress and singer, Selena Gomez, has confirmed herself as the mystery artist collaborating with Korean pop-star group Blackpink. On Monday (Aug. 17), they dropped a couple of teasers of a much-hyped alliance. The forthcoming record is Blackpink’s upcoming single to be out on Aug. 28 (Friday).

As reported in the Los Angeles Times, Selena took to Instagram and Twitter how excited she was to announce the partnership with the Korean group with a new song to be released very soon.

These rumors regarding a planned collaboration first appeared after the band hinted that a guest would be joining them on their forthcoming single. The Korean pop group management, YG Entertainment, has prompted the fans to wait for the final and official announcement.

The members of Blackpink have also shared the glad tidings to social media and have gathered more than 586,000 likes on Twitter. They believe that #SelPink is not just a collaboration but a cultural reset and trusts that it is the best alliance for the year 2020. They also think that it is a masterpiece, the purest form of art gifted from God with a breath of holiness and a portion of food for the soul. Beyond doubt, it is everything they need as a group and are very thankful for this project.

Selena Gomez has released her most recent studio album called “Rare,” where her first U.S. number-one single “Lose You To Love You” is included just this year. It was also recognized as the “first great pop album” by Los Angeles Times.

As per Vogue, Selena has frequently been collaborating and has previously launched tracks with Kid Curi, Julia Michaels, and even DJ Snake’s “Taki Taki,” along with Cardi B and Ozuna. This summer, she joined forces with singer and songwriter Trevor Daniel and Lil Mosey for the remix of “Past Life.”

This new collaboration follows Blackpink’s 2020 hit single “How You Like That,” which peaked at No. 33 on Hot 100 during its release. The single also simultaneously matched the achievement of “Kill This Love” way back in 2019. As per Billboard, it will mark their second tramping over a single of “Sour Candy.”

We’d probably expect plenty of room for a super dance routine, given that Blackpink is one of the most followed dance groups in this generation. This highly foretold debut album is due to arrive on October 2.
