Pippa Middleton and Carole Middleton extended a welcoming gesture to Meghan Markle when they invited her to the former’s wedding in 2017.

Initially, Markle and Prince Harry planned to attend the event. But Markle reportedly had a change of heart at the last minute.

In the book Finding Freedom, it was revealed that Markle knew her place and she was keen on not upstaging Pippa because it was her wedding day. She reportedly asked for help from Jessica Mulroney on what she would wear to the event.

“Meghan put careful thought into her outfit, leaning heavily on Jessica Mulroney to pull together an ensemble that was stylish without being splashy when walking into church with Harry. Her determination not to make a misstep at Pippa's wedding was just one in many actions she took befitting a woman on track to becoming royalty,” the source said.

But just before the wedding, Kate Middleton’s younger sister and Markle were compared to each other by a tabloid. The tabloid predicted that Markle would have her own “Pippa moment” at the wedding.

In 2011, Pippa made headlines when she seeming upstaged the Duchess of Cambridge at her royal wedding to Prince William. Pippa flaunted her curves in a figure-hugging ensemble back then.

When Markle saw the tabloid’s story, she reportedly felt that she shouldn’t attend the wedding. The Duchess of Sussex didn’t reportedly want to be compared to Pippa. And she knew for sure that whatever she wears would upstage the bride.

Even though Markle skipped Pippa’s wedding, she made sure to attend the reception. She reportedly wore a long black gown and did her own makeup.

According to the book, when Prince Harry and Markle reunited at the reception, they couldn’t stop themselves from chatting with each other. However, there was a clear instruction from the newlyweds that couples would sit apart.

Markle and Pippa were last seen in public at Wimbledon last year. They were joined by Prince William’s wife at the sports event. Markle sat in between the siblings back then.

According to a source, the three women had a wonderful time at Wimbledon. Photos of the trio also made headlines last year.

The Duchess of Cambridge is wearing an all-green ensemble, while Markle donned a white long-sleeved blouse and pleated skirt. Pippa, on the other hand, wore a blue and white floral dress.
