While many actors received the Emmy nomination news early in the morning, Matthew Macfadyen learned about his nod in the afternoon. When the Succession star was heading towards the grocery store, he received the good news.

This is Macfadyen's first nod while the HBO drama he earned the nomination, received 18 nominations on July 28. The 45-year-old actor has been quarantined with his two children and wife in London from the past few months.

The actor has been looking forward to starting shooting for the third installment of the popular American-drama show, Succession. The filming of the upcoming season was supposed to begin in April. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation like many other big events and movies, the show has been pushed forward.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Macfadyen who portrayed Tom Wambsgans's character on the show revealed his quarantined period. The actor also spoke about his plans to celebrate the nod and how Roy's family would have been handled the ongoing crisis.

“We rented a cottage and just went away for a bit — but we’ve mainly been in London. We’ve been very lucky. We’ve got a garden and a house, so we’re not too cooped up together. Our teenagers haven’t killed each other and we haven’t killed them. It’s been quite nice to have a pause on life,” the actor said.

The actor admitted that things are much better in the United Kingdom compared to the United States. Although masks are compulsory in every shop, public places, restaurants, and so on. He explained that currently, his location is a suburb, which is extremely busy and loves to see people around.

The Three Musketeers star said that people are following the rule of social distancing properly along with keeping the masks on. However, Central London seemed quiet and sad. Macfadyen expressed gratification for getting nominated while he learned during the interview that the show bagged 18 nominations.

The actor revealed that the show is expected to begin filming during the autumn. The show might premiere in January like other shows. Though the actor mentioned how dates are changing on a daily and weekly basis.

The actor acknowledged that there are restrictions to film but again those restrictions are taken off after a few days. He explained how things confuse the production of the work further. Considering the virtual Emmy event, the actor joked about choosing perfect curtains behind him.
