Retired NFL superstar Tom Brady is reportedly in serious talks to make a return to the league not as a player, but as a co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. This surprising development comes just three months after Brady announced his retirement from professional football.

Adam Schefter, senior ESPN reporter, confirmed the news on Friday. "NFL legend Tom Brady is in deep discussions to become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders,” Schefter disclosed, indicating that a deal could be on the horizon, although the situation remains a "sensitive and fluid negotiation."

If the talks prove successful, this would be Brady's second business venture with Raiders' owner Mark Davis within a span of two months. In March, Brady acquired a minority stake in the Las Vegas Aces, a WNBA team also owned by Davis.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion, now 45, has long been interested in owning part of an NFL franchise. However, while active as a player, league rules prevented him from pursuing this ambition. As Greg Auman, a sports reporter, explained, "The NFL does not allow a player to have an ownership stake in one NFL team and play for another.” Yet, the league does permit a player to co-own and play for the same team, provided this is agreed upon by three-quarters of the NFL's owners.

Brady's recent retirement was not his first. In February 2022, he initially announced his retirement, only to retract his decision two months later. This unexpected reversal reportedly contributed to the dissolution of his marriage to supermodel Gisele Bündchen, with the couple divorcing in October.

Despite the speculation, it remains unclear if Brady's potential co-ownership of the Raiders would herald his return to the field as a player. However, it seems that Brady's legendary career might be entering a new chapter, this time in the boardroom rather than on the field.
