Royal biographer Tom Bower has alleged that Meghan Markle is positioning herself as the "leader of the anti-royal faction" following her decision to skip King Charles III's coronation. Bower discussed Prince Harry's quick exit from the UK after the ceremony and Markle's absence from the event on GB News with host Dan Wootton.

Wootton brought up the idea that anti-monarchists were exploiting Markle and Prince Harry's claims of racism to attack the royal family. Bower, a former BBC journalist and television producer, claimed this was part of a scheme to "undermine" the monarchy. However, International Business Times could not independently confirm his claims.

Bower, a critic of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alleged that Markle and her Netflix producers aim to "undermine King Charles and somehow find a way in which they can destabilize Britain." He suggested Markle's absence from the coronation was a deliberate act of disapproval towards the royal institution.

Bower asserted that Markle didn't attend because "she didn't want to curtsy to the Queen [Camilla] and to Kate [Middleton]."

The author also claimed that the royal family has become a "soft target" for "diversity extremists" seeking to infiltrate the country's institutions.

Prince Harry and Markle's relationship with the royal family has been tense since they stepped back from public duties and moved to California in 2020. They have since given multiple interviews and released projects discussing their time within the royal family and their departure from royal life.

In a March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle revealed that there were "concerns and conversations about how dark [their son Archie's] skin might be when he's born." Prince William later denied allegations of racism within the family, stating, "We are very much not a racist family."

In a January interview with ITV News anchor Tom Bradby, Prince Harry clarified that he did not accuse his family of racism. He explained the difference between racism and unconscious bias, stating that once unconscious bias is acknowledged, individuals and institutions have an opportunity to learn and grow from it.

However, Angela Levin, another royal biographer, recently claimed that Markle despised the royal family and influenced Prince Harry to adopt her views. She alleged, "He's been brainwashed, and he's been left out to dry... I don't think he hates the family as much as Meghan hates it and wants him to hate it. He wants to please her."
