According to a royal author, King Charles III ceased communication with his son, Prince Harry, after repeated requests for financial support strained their relationship. In his book "Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed," Robert Jobson writes that Charles stopped answering calls from his son after Harry swore at him and persistently asked for funds.

Jobson quotes King Charles as telling Queen Elizabeth, "I am not a bank." Despite the rift with his father, Harry reportedly attempted to maintain contact with his late grandmother when he relocated to California. Jobson states, "The Queen hoped that her grandson, having decided to live in Canada and then California, would find peace and happiness living the life he had chosen, but in the end she asked him to speak directly to his father."

A source informed Jobson that the Queen found Harry's calls "difficult and wearisome" and did not want to meddle in his relationship with Charles. After Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, they were financially cut off and had to bear the cost of their own security.

In his controversial memoir "Spare," the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex addressed the issue of money within the royal family. He claimed that his father informed him there was insufficient funding to support Markle, 41, and suggested she continue her acting career. According to Harry, Charles, 74, was already spending a significant amount to support him, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

In his memoir, Harry wrote, "Pa didn't financially support Willy and me, and our families, out of any largesse. That was his job. That was the whole deal." He went on to allege that his father was more concerned with Markle's increasing popularity and the potential for her to outshine him within the monarchy.

Jobson's book notes that Charles is "torn between love and duty and [is] deeply saddened" by the strained relationship with his son. The father and son are set to reunite next month for a significant occasion.

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will attend his father's coronation on May 6, but Meghan Markle will not accompany him. A palace spokesperson told Page Six, "The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

Prince Harry's representative has not yet responded to Page Six's request for comment on Jobson's claims.
