Johnny Depp has reportedly decided to transform his lifestyle following the tragic death of his close friend and music legend Jeff Beck, fearing that his own unhealthy habits could lead to a similar fate.

Sources close to the soon-to-be 60-year-old actor reveal that he has left behind his notorious alcohol binges, chain smoking, and wild partying to adopt a healthier way of living, the National Enquirer claimed.

The actor's newfound commitment to wellness comes in the wake of Beck's passing at the age of 78 due to bacterial meningitis. "Jeff was like a brother to Johnny and his passing knocked the wind out of his sails," an insider shares. "It rammed it home that he can't play Russian roulette with his health anymore."

Depp, now residing in the English countryside, is said to be embracing this dramatic change to extend his life. "He's had to dig deep and embrace this very dramatic change, which he's smart enough to know is totally necessary if he wants to stick around!" says a source.

Apart from reducing his smoking and drinking habits, Depp is also said to have replaced greasy snacks with salads and vegetables while enjoying long hikes around his Somerset estate in the U.K. "He'll still enjoy a glass of wine or pint of beer, and it's taking a while to kick smoking because he's trying to cut back slowly," adds an insider. "But Johnny's way healthier now. It's getting better all the time and he's really reaping the benefits!"

Depp, an aspiring rock musician who played alongside the Yardbirds' Jeff Beck for years, attended his mentor's funeral in England with other music icons such as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Rod Stewart, David Gilmour, and Tom Jones. This immersion in music came after his court victory over ex-wife Amber Heard, 36.

Embracing the fresh country air, Depp believes his current location is the perfect setting for turning his life around. An insider states, "He says he's got a whole lot of life left to enjoy!"
