While Richard Gere and Julia Roberts have been loved for their sizzling onscreen romance, their fans keep wondering whether these two stars dated each other in real life or not.

Roberts and Gere were among all those Hollywood stars that recently joined a special event to pay tribute to the legendary screenwriter, producer, and director Garry Marshall. Marshall was 81-year-old when he passed away in 2016.

The two-hour special tribute to the late director is titled “The Happy Days of Garry Marshall” and was aired on ABC on May 12. Roberts and Garry featured in a couple of Marshall’s most famous movies “Pretty Woman” and “Runaway Bride.”

The director had spoken about the sizzling onscreen chemistry of these two actors in an interview several years later. Their chemistry appeared so real that there has been a steady flow of rumors of the pair’s real-life romance though they are incorrect.

The fact is Richard Gere and Julia Roberts did not date each other at all. Both of them are happily married to their respective spouses. Gere got married to Alejandra Silva, a Spanish activist in 2018 and have two kids together.

On the other hand, Roberts tied the knot with cinematographer Daniel Moder. The couple got married way back in 2002 and has three children together, Heavy.com reports.

Not many are aware that Roberts had to give her audition twice to bag the role of Vivian Ward in “Pretty Woman.” The actress had revealed how she had to convince Gere to act in the film in an interview given to Entertainment Weekly Radio in 2017.

The famous pairing almost did not happen because Gere had refused to be a part of the movie in the beginning. The actress revealed how tough it was for Marshall and her to get an actor who could portray the role of Edward with perfection. Once they started talking with Gere, Roberts was convinced that he should play the role.

Roberts also revealed that the late director and she had to fly to New York so that they could meet the actor at his apartment to convince him. At that time the actress felt it was sort of strange that she was permitted to know his house address.

The three of them discussed the film for a while before Marshall let Gere and Roberts have a one-on-one talk. The rest is history because Richard Gere agreed to do the role and the film was widely successful. Julia Roberts became incredibly famous after the massive popularity of the 1990 romantic comedy.
