Hilary Duff is opening up about her new outlook on health and body image in an interview, as it was not the case when she was much younger.

Citing the 35-year-old actress’ recent exchange with Women’s Health AustraliaEntertainment Tonight said she talked about her past struggles with body image, including her battle with an eating disorder when she was 17.

Duff is said to have shared in the interview that because of her “career path,” she “can’t help but be like, ‘I am on camera and actresses are skinny.’” She also added that “it was horrifying,” as per the outlet.

ET, in its report published Monday, recalled that the “A Cinderella Story” actress began her career in the entertainment industry at a young age. It said that her first leading role came when she played the role of Wendy in “Casper Meets Wendy” in 1998, adding that she was 11 at the time.

Hilary Duff is said to have become a household name and teen idol after landing the titular role of Lizzie McGuire on Disney Channel in the early 2000s. The television series, which targeted the pre-teen adolescent demographic, ran for two seasons on the network and later spun off into a feature film.

Despite calling her past views on her health and body image “horrifying,” gone are the years when she was trying to live up to the industry’s standards when it comes to fitness and figure.

Women’s Health Australia shared that the “Raise Your Voice” star decided to focus on getting strong and maintaining it, adding that she is proud of her body.

Hilary Duff told the outlet that she is “appreciating my health” these days, “doing activities that make me feel strong instead of just bettering the outside of my body.” She said such activities include “spending time with people that make me feel good and share similar views on health and body positivity,” alongside “getting enough sleep and balance in my diet.”

To date, aside from keeping herself in shape, she is also busy with her career and family.

Hilary Duff stars and produces “How I Met Your Father,” the spin-off material of “How I Met Your Mother.” She plays the lead role in the Hulu series, which received its green light for a second season earlier this year.

The “Cadet Kelly” star is a mother of three, the youngest of whom she and her husband, Matthew Koma, welcomed in March 2021.

Duff and Koma first met in 2015, but Us Weekly says it was not until two years later that they began dating and tied the knot in 2019.
