Joanna and Chip Gaines shared some real insight into their relationship while running a lifestyle business empire and taking care of five children. In the latest summer release of Magnolia Journal 2020, Joanna Gaines candidly mentioned about the earlier days spent with his now-husband Chip Gaines.

Joanna Gaines recalls that it wasn't an instant spark between chip and her while she admits she had a thing for introvert guys. In fact, in the magazine, she titled this segment as "Slow Yes". Despite she wondered if he was "bit crazy" during their first date, Joanna took the risk of going on a second date with him.

The Fixer Upper host recalled how she found on her the first date that the Building a Network author was an extrovert as he shared his dreams of starting companies, the houses he plans to flip, and all other risks he looked forward to taking.

The Magnolia Story authors found each other interesting as Joanna further mention in the magazine about Chip's vision and decided to embrace it. Although, Joanna's dreams and ideas were half-baked and she thought she might not be able to accomplish them because she didn't consider herself to be a risk-taker.

It was Chip who made her realize the potential she had in her that was untapped and how together they would build an empire which they eventually did. She also revealed the secret behind their 17 years of successful marriage consists of five children and a lifestyle empire.

In the 2019 Issue of Kindness featured in PEOPLE, the couple disclosed how they made it work. Chip admits that even though they are best friends, they don't always agree with each other. The couple believes in conceding throughout 17-years of relationship, though not every time.

It all boils down to the fact that they both deeply care for one another rather than focusing on who is right if they get into a debate. "Kindness with no strings attached", Joanna says while referring to raising the family on a new level.

“Match made in heaven is not the term you would use to describe us,” We Are the Gardeners author said in 2016 to PEOPLE. Joanna further reveals that it’s their mixed personalities that work best in favor of our relationship and that helps to create the "spark". Both had to put efforts in terms of finding their groove to implement with their envisioned life.
