Sean Diddy Combs understands why fans and celebrities are urging the public to cancel Kanye West, but he said that this isn’t what they should do.

During a recent interview, Combs explained that West is a free-thinker that’s why some of his ideas get misconstrued.

His comments came after West debuted White Lives Matter t-shirts during his fashion show. But other than the controversial slogan on the shirts, West also called Black Lives Matter a hoax.

“Everyone knows Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now it’s over. You’re welcome,” he said (via Complex).

On his social media account, West also said that he decided to come up with a White Lives Matter shirt because they also matter as much as Black people’s lives.

According to Combs, it is important to first love your tribe first and be loyal to them. And this could be one of the reasons why some celebrities and fans are upset with West’s comments.

The rapper made it seem as though Black Lives Matter did not really matter in the first place.

“[Black Lives Matter] was our slogan. That wasn’t our slogan to go share with nobody else … Because right now, we’re the ones that are dying, that are incarcerated, that are left in poverty,” he said (via Page Six).

Following the controversy, several people already came forward to slam West. Gigi Hadid called the rapper a bully and a joke because of what he said during his fashion show and on social media.

Kendall Jenner also seemingly showed her support for her friend, Jayden Smith, who walked out of West’s fashion show.

“I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out,” Smith tweeted.

Will Smith’s son also insisted that Black Lives Matter.

As of writing, West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian has not released a statement on the rapper’s recent backlash. But in the past, the reality TV star is known for defending her ex-husband.

There was a time when Kardashian told the world that West is a creative genius and that’s why he has ideas left and right. And unfortunately, some of them work while others turn out to be offensive.

Prior to the recent controversy, West was also canceled for bullying Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, Pete Davidson, and for threatening to have the comedian decapitated.
